An advocacy group has brought its fight to protect those inside Oklahoma nursing homes to the governor’s office, KFOR reports.
A Perfect Cause, an organization that aims to end needless suffering in nursing homes, went to Governor Mary Fallin’s office to tell of some of the abuse senior citizens inside Oklahoma nursing home experience. Families of victims showcased gruesome pictures of their abused loved ones.
The group is trying to get Gov. Fallin to take extra measures in preventing elders from being abused in nursing homes. The group blames state agencies but says that the governor’s office is the most responsible.
A Perfect Cause is also planning on taking their issue to the federal government, specifically seeking increased accountability and oversight in nursing homes so that the abuse that seems so prevalent can be put to an end.
