A woman who suffered was injured in a slip and fall accident onboard a Carnival cruise ship in 2009 has been awarded $35 million in damages.
Denise Kaba filed a slip and fall lawsuit against Carnival Cruises last year in the District Court for the Southern District of Florida. According to the lawsuit, Kaba was injured when she slipped on the pool deck of the Carnival Pride cruise ship on August 22, 2009. The lawsuit claims the use of a resin surface on the pool deck caused Kaba to fall.
Kaba alleged that Carnival was aware of numerous prior slip and fall injuries on Carnival Pride pool deck.
Kaba sustained a fractured knee cap in the accident and required six surgeries.
She was awarded $2,998,155.70 in damages for past medical expenses, future medical expenses, and loss of earning capacity.
